Swaddling is the age-old practice of wrapping a newborn baby in a large piece of cloth. The Miracle Blanket's unique design keeps baby's arms close to his sides preventing startle/Moro reflex (uncontrolled arm movements wake baby up with a start and make him cry.) It also exerts a light pressure on his tummy which helps him to relax and calms him almost immediately. Baby can still move his legs freely when swaddled in the Miracle Blanket and if it is very warm, he can even be swaddled with his legs outside the blanket.
During the day when he is awake, baby should not be swaddled but encouraged to play with his hands.
